WHEN YOU BECOME AN ECO QUEEN & DISGUST YOUR FAMILY!
Last year I started taking notice of the environment around me, it all started with a random bottle of shampoo and is slowly creeping into my whole world. I look at everything now, from ingredients to the material of which products are made. I wouldn’t say I’m militant, but I’m definitely much more aware and intrigued to educate myself around this growing phenomenon. But what happens if your partner or the people around you don’t share your sudden change in becoming an Eco Queen and quite frankly think you are completely bonkers?
Coming from a working class background, growing up in a council flat in North London anything to do with the environment or dare I utter the words ‘vegetarian or vegan’ are immediately dismissed and mocked for being snowflakes or sandal wearing hippies. I can’t speak for everyone but my family think it’s a total waste of time and quite frankly pointless.
The other half on the other hand has been very supportive, whilst he’s not quite ready to trade in his antiperspirant (apparently it makes him smell nice). He has made other changes like ditching plastic water bottles in favour of a man size reusable bottle. Whilst admitting he is much more aware of single use plastics, previously not giving a second thought. Next switch, shampoo bars and a reusable coffee cup, these will be gifted and wrapped up in manipulation J
My family is a whole different species and not so open minded to change, however I won’t be deterred and will treat this as a challenge….I’ll keep you posted!
